Final Blog-class in review

Overall I really enjoyed this course and the aspect of writing blogs. I think that the format of this class was extremely beneficial to me. I liked how we were able to go through a lesson, evaluate that lesson and then create one of our own based on the experience. So before actually creating a lesson plan of our own we had already gone through what works and what doesn't work through first hand experiences. I really liked having that opportunity, in my other classes we are basically just told to go write lesson plan and the often come out very unrealistic.
I liked my peers in the class and really enjoyed the group discussions and dynamic that this class brought. I really like how I am given the rare opportunity to learn from each of my peers own teaching styles. As future educators everyone in this class had something new and unique to bring to the discussions that was very intriguing. I felt privileged to learn from all of their perspectives on their content areas.
On that note I think I have a very appropriate picture in mind for this occasion.

Look guys it's us!! We have come from totally different content areas and have different ways of viewing things, but we make for one great show.! Thanks everybody!! :)

MaRcH MaYhEm

With the month of march comes the most anticipated time for college basketball. Although no Utah teams, Utah State included, made it into the NCAA tournament this year, i'll still be watching. I like to watch the tournament through my eyes as a future coach. I like looking at the match-ups between players and how coaches choose t play against certain teams. I think to myself how I would couch my guys if I was in the tournament and I actually consider it good preparation for when I hopefully get to coach my own team.

It also brought to my attention how digital literate I needed to be just for something as simple as following this tournament. For something as simple as filling out my bracket predictions, the process is actually a little more complicated. After realizing that I needed to create an ESPN account, join a league with my friends in Salt Lake, fill out my picks, follow up with the games through TV, internet or cell phone, made me realized how much I use technology for everyday activities. While following the NCAA basketball tournament isn't necessarily school related, it opened my eyes to how much technology is evolving to me accessible at all times.

Teaching our students to use understand all these different forms of technology will be very beneficial to them and is something I think should be addressed in every subject in our schools.

Teaching Philosophy

I wanted to become a teacher in physical education because I want to motivate and influence young kids. I have a strong passion and desire for wanted to coach basketball. I think that being in this position will allow me to interact with kids in a way that will help me shape their character. I have had some really great motivational influences in my life that have made me who I am today. My plan in teaching is to be this positive role model for them.

Birthday Bash

Last weekend was my birthday so My brother ans some friends of mine decided to go to Wendover and test our luck. It turned out to be a great trip as I won over 500 dollars, the most I have taken from a casino. We stayed at the Rainbow casino for free cause one of my friends is a frequent visitor who spends a lot of money.
My friend that i'm taking about is actually a defensive lineman who plays for the Denver Broncos. He doesn't get in the games very often at all. He is mostly a practice squad player but he has still seen some live action.

There he is my long time friend Sealver. It's great to look back and see where he came from to where he is now. I don't think I have ever seen anybody work as hard as him in my life. His background wasn't the best, he was always made fun of when we were kids for being fat. Just goes to show you what can be accoplished if you have the right desire make your dreams come true.
Sealver has been an inspiration to me and it makes me feel good to see him succeed. I think that by getting into teaching we will be able to see some of our students do great things and feel the same kind of gratitude. Teaching is going to put me in the position to help kid chase their goals that come from all different kinds of backgrounds. It is going to be a challenge but one that I look forward to because of people like my buddy Sealver.

On Monday I played in both of my basketball leagues. The games were split as we won one game and lost the other. I couldn't help but noticed huge differences in both teams. The game I won we were able to make adjustments on the fly during the game. It made me think of something we have been discussion in one of my teaching classes about the value of group discussions. Although it wasn't necessarily in an academic setting I was able to see the value of getting opinions from everybody on the team and listen to suggestions to what would help us as the game went on. The game I lost my whole team just gave up and there was no communication whatsoever.

With Valentines day coming up tomorrow I am not looking forward to spending mine at work. I work at Papa Johns and a delivery driver. Hopefully all the couples ordering pizza tomorrow will tip well.
I am also excited for my birthday weekend coming up so I can spend some time with my brother in Wendover. I don't get to see him much along with the rest of my family who recently moved to California. We are going to be placing bets on the all-star events this weekend so i'm hoping not to lost what little funds I have from being a college student.
That's what is going on in my life at the moment, pretty exciting times. Look forward to blogging again soon.

Bud Tapp Introduction

My name is Bud Tapp and this is my first blog I have ever written. I am a student at Utah State University studying Physical Education and English with an emphasis on teaching. I got into teaching due to the fact that I have a strong desire to coach basketball. I have always loved the game and I want to make a career in educating and motivating young students and athletes. I recently got back from Orlando Florida and spending my last semester working at the Walt Disney Word Resort. It was an awesome experience where I learned a lot. It was a great experience to live outside of Utah for an extended period of time and see how different the lifestyle was.
I love to be outdoors and do things like camping, hiking, swimming and just being active. I love playing sports with basketball and football being my favorites. My favorite thing of all to do though is to travel. I enjoy seeing new places and experiencing new things. I have been to the Bahamas twice and Mexico once but other than that I haven't gone out of the country as much as I would like to.
This blogging is going to be an interesting experience for me. I have always heard of blogs and even read a few in forms of reviews but never actually written any myself. I have never been one to keep a journal or just free write for fun either so I look forward to seeing how it goes this semester. Until next time everyone!
